Evaluation and Diagnosis

A compassionate and accurate evaluation can be life changing. For individuals wondering if their lived experience aligns with a diagnosis of ADHD or Autism, this process allows them to understand their personal strengths and areas of difficulty and have the tools to be more effective and successful in all areas of their lives. Comprehensive evaluations are often necessary to unlock a host of interventions such as educational accommodations, psychiatric medication management, social security/disability support, and insurance coverage for behavioral treatment. Regardless of whether the results of an evaluation indicate the presence of a neurodevelopmental disorder, I will provide in-depth explanation for what is causing challenges and identify strategies to support personal success.

Components of Evaluations

The length and specific process of an evaluation will be individually determined depending on the individual being evaluated and the goals of the evaluation. Evaluations will include interview sessions with the patient and/or parents to gather information about their developmental, academic, social, and psychiatric histories. Then, patients will come for in-person testing which may include cognitive/developmental, academic, language, social/emotional, and neuropsychological assessments. A variety of self-report forms that assess various symptoms and skills will be completed by parents, other reporters (such as teachers), and the patient (depending on developmental level). After all of this is completed, a feedback session will be scheduled to discuss results, potential diagnoses, and recommendations. Patients will receive a comprehensive evaluation report with specific results and recommendations.

Patients will receive a good faith estimate of the plan for evaluation, including fees, before starting. Please contact me for my fee schedule. Payment will be due at the time of each service. I serve as an out-of-network provider, which means I do not directly process insurance claims. However, I will provide you with itemized billing statements with all the information you will need to get reimbursement. As an initial step, you could contact your insurance provider to determine their reimbursement rate for the specific evaluation type.
